DESCRIPTION
Stone Guard WP is an aqueous solution of potassium methyl siliconate and is used in diluted form for the hydrophobic impregnation of mineral construction materials to make them water-repellent. its have water-repellent properties by reaction with atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). The active substance formed from the silicone masonry water repellent is polymethylsilicic acid.
ADVANTAGES
• Preserves original natural appearances of tiles, marbles, granites, fair-face bricks at a economic cost.
• Resistance to ultra-violet degradation.
• Inhibits fungus and bacteria growth.
• Preserves original natural appearances of tiles, marbles, granites, fair-face bricks at a economic cost.
• Able to coat over painted surfaces.
COMPLIED STANDARD
• ASTM D412
• BS EN 14891
WHERE TO USE
Stone Guars WP imparts water repellency to:
• Low-fired clay products immediately after they have been made: e. g. roof tiles, facing bricks, floor tiles, flower pots
• Aerated concrete
• Gypsum and gypsum-based fiber boards
• Light fillers, such as perlite, vermiculites and aerated concrete granules
• Insulating material
MIXING AND APPLICATION
Applications
• Boards & Panels
• Construction Materials
• Gypsum Wallboards and Gypsum Fiberboards
• Hydrophobic Impregnation
• Insulation Materials
• Pre-Impregnation of Construction Materials
Mixing
Stone Guard WP requires no mixing before use. However, if the product has been stored for a long period, it is likely to show signs of slight creaming and should be shaken up thoroughly before use. Ensure substrate to be applied is free from dirt, grease, fungus, algae or other contaminants. All loose foreign material shall be removed and surface should be dry prior to applications. Stone Guard WP can either be apply liberally by roller, brush or spray. Normally 2 coats are sufficient but care must be taken to ensure that the first coat is sufficiently dry before application of the second coat. The hydrophobic effects will start to develop after 24 hours and will complete within a week. Because of possible discolouration, depending on nature of substrate to be applied, it is advisable to carry out tests before actual application
CONSUMPTION
Approximately 7 m2-10 m2 per lites.
